Description

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, established by Government Ordinance in 1984, is one of the leading institutes of higher arts education in Asia. It provides professional education, training and research facilities in the performing arts, theatre and entertainment arts, film and television. Its educational policy reflects the cultural diversity of Hong Kong with an emphasis on Chinese and Western traditions and interdisciplinary complementarity. The Academy has the following Schools/discipline: School of Dance, School of Drama, School of Film and Television, School of Music, School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Chinese Traditional Theatre. Academic programmes are offered by each of the five Schools from postsecondary Diploma level up to Bachelor Honours Degree level.

The Academy was granted degree awarding status in 1992 following accreditation by the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation. The Degree programmes of the Academy are externally validated by that Council.
